Deganga visit

Today is 4th October, 2010, I organized training program at Beliakhali village of Parputna mouza JL 45 of Deganga block by the support of Shri Nilangshu Gain of Swanirbhar, located at Baduria nearby Kalsur Uchcha Madhyamik Bidyalaya. Shri Biplab De Sarkar of our unit was with me.

Here cultivation is centered around jute and paddy. The path to the cottage is like:
In this year, due to insufficient rain water, farmers are emotionally shocked. Mr. Hakim, Ex-panchayet sabhapati introduced me the Baikhar lake , a very big water base like river. He has planning to start fish culture, deckery along with jute soaking.

Here almost 300 households are living with 5 persons per family approximately. There is no electricity here though some pillars are there. There is no electricity in the primary school where the training program is organized.

Here, farmers use chemical fertilizers without soil testing. No agriculture officer visited this place recently. Last visit of AO in 1998 for seed distribution.
This results total dependence on private players. They do not test viability of fertilizers in the small plot of land before its use in the large area. Their return of investment is severely affected by the labour, cost of fertilizers and insecticides.
